Manali to Chika via Jobra

Trekking expedition will begin with a bus trip from Manali to Jobra. Situated at an altitude of 9,800 ft, reaching Jobra would take an hour. On foot, the journey will begin from Allain Guhugal Hydel Project junction. As the slope isn’t that steep, it would take 20 minutes to reach a bend that overlooks lush green meadow strewed with small rocks. Post enjoying the view, we will move towards the meadow. After crossing the meadow or mountaineering the left hill, we will reach Chika.

Chika to Bhalu Ka Ghera

Post a scrumptious breakfast, we will head to Bhalu ka Ghera, situated at an altitude of 11,480 ft. From Chika, it will take nearly five hours. On the way, you will get to relish the picturesque snow covered Dhauladhar Mountains. All through the journey, your eyes will feast on varieties of colourful flowers. After the first half of the day, we will enter Jwara, a beautiful secluded valley with a river flowing on one side and snow-clad rocks on the other. Crossing Jwara will take an hour. As we move ahead, we will enter Bhalu ka Ghera and set up our camp for rest.

Bhalu ka Ghera to Siagoru across Hampta Pass

As this is an important part of the trek, we will commence it early morning. The target is to cover nearly 14 km long excursion through the Himalayas, which will take nearly nine hours. As we continue walking, we will reach Hampta Pass located at an elevation of 14,000 ft. Numerous spots will come on the way for rest. Further, the flat terrain would make the journey easy as we enter Lahaul. The last in the series of bridges that we cross will be challenging because of the steepness of the climb. Once we cross the bridge, we will descend for a while before reaching Siagoru, which is at 13,000 ft. It’s an exceptional destination to set up camps and relax.

Siagoru to Chatru

The trek will begin by crossing the river visible from the Siagoru camp, during the wee hours. The distance between Siagoru and Chatru is nearly eight km and will take almost five hours. The first half of the day is projected to be easy as there is a long descent through the slopes. Later, we will arrive in the valley, carved by Chandra River, at a height of 11,000 ft. On our way to Chatru, you will see numerous makeshift stalls selling delicious food. For an overnight stay, we will unpack at the Chatru campsite.

Chatru/ Chandratal to Manali

If the weather is clear, then we will hike up to the Chandratal Lake, also famous as Moon Lake. Chandratal Lake is 70 km from Chatru campsite and a few hours from Chandratal campsite. If the weather is doubtful, then we will take a bus from Chatru to Manali and skip Chandratal Lake.
