Destination: One of the prominent trekking locations, Kareri Village and Lake lies in the northwest of Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, at an altitude of 2934m. The melted snow from the Dhauladhars Range serves as the water source of the Kareri Lake, from which a separate stream called Nyund flows. The lake’s natural beauty, forests, rural villages, and temple on the banks of the Kareri Lake make it desired spot.
Climatic Conditions: The best time to visit the Kareri Lake is either March – June or September – December. The Kareri Lake remains frozen from December to March.

Base Station: Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh
  • By Air: Take a flight till Gaggal Airport (13 km away from Dharamsala) and reach the base station by cab or book a ticket till Chandigarh and then take a taxi to cover 275 km to reach Dharamsala.
  • By Train: Book a ticket till Pathankot and then hire a taxi to reach 85 km away location.
  • By Bus: One can also get a direct bus from Delhi or any north India city to Dharamsala. Self-drive is not advisable as it will drain you completely and this can spoil your trekking plans.

Travelling Rules:

  • A Risk Certificate document has to be signed before the trek.
  • There is no policy for transfer of booking.
  • Try to keep baggage light weight with necessary items to carry it without any hassle.
  • Any extra expenditure due to natural calamity including landslide, during the trip, will be chargeable.
